About: Dan Sawada
I was born in the beautiful city of Hamamatsu, Japan. At the age of 5, I moved to the San
Francisco Bay Area. Spending 6 years in the heart of silicon valley, I was really inspired
by the technologies of computers. After moving back to Hamamatsu at the age of 11, I attended and graduated from Hamamatsu
Kita High School in 2007.
Currently, I am a M.S. Candidate in Media Arts and Sciences and a Research Assistant at the MIT Media Lab. Prior to joining the lab, I received a B.A. in Environment and Information Studies (Computer Science) from Keio University in Japan.
With a background in computer science. I have a strong passion in designing and building new concepts in the intersection of mobile networks, proximal communication, and spatial interaction. I am also interested in digital fabrication, as well as hardware gadgets.
Apart from research, I also enjoy running tech related workshops, primarily for kids and teens. In my spare time, I enjoying traveling, driving, and all kinds of sports.
